This depends on the subject area of the goals and benchmarks. Holmes Tutoring specializes in reading, and the Direct Instruction Model is used to help enhance the retention of learners (Only offering group virtual reading lessons until further notice). Please understand that tutoring services and assessments taken at  Holmes Tutoring do not replace, nor can they be used, as data for in-school IEP goals and benchmark purposes.

As of now, no tutoring sessions are offered in person. Using a virtual platform helps keep prices as reasonable as possible for clients. Online tutoring sessions also help maintain instructional time and allow tutoring sessions to be recorded when warranted.

Holmes Tutoring sessions take place in the comfort of your own home with any device. You will need a high-speed internet connection, a webcam, a computer/smartphone, and headphones (to minimize distractions). A video software is used for tutoring sessions (free of charge). Keep in mind that the interactive platform (remote control sharing) may not work on all devices. Smartphones and iPads can be used, but the remote control sharing application may not be transferable for students' independent use. All students are required to book a free mandatory session before their first paid tutoring session to review classroom rules and functions and to be assessed for correct placement. Guardians must ensure that students have all the required material, including any workbook activities, present at each class to ensure students gain the most from their tutoring experience. It is best if parents have their own printer to print the material, but printing it at your local library is an option as well. 

Yes! Google Classroom will be used for groups. Once payment is received, clients will receive an email to join our Google Classroom. There, you will find links to weekly meetings, the handbook, any recordings, chat functions, workbook pages, and more. It is important for clients to know how to work Google Classroom as well as have Google access (Gmail, etc.)

Please be mindful of keeping staff members informed of expected absences and cancellations. A 24-hour notice is expected for cancellations. Repeated cancellations or frequent absences may result in the termination of tutoring services. Invoices are expected to be paid at the beginning of each month. Clients can review the Terms & Conditions in the Tutoring Handbook for more information about cancellations and rescheduling. Clients who have paid for a monthly subscription will receive videos of any missed sessions at the end of the work week. If a class is cancelled due to the instructor's absence, a recorded lesson or alternative assignment will be provided. Monthly tuition is not reduced. Because classes are small-group and subscription-based, individual make-up classes are not offered for student absences. Families are responsible for attending scheduled sessions. The program follows a structured academic calendar. Planned breaks and holidays are built into the yearly schedule. 

Tuition is charged monthly. Enrollment at any point during the month reserves a student's spot for the remainder of that month and the following sessions. Tuition is still due at the beginning of the month. If students sign up the end of the month, they will start classes the following month and will be billed for the next month. 

 Tuition is billed monthly and due on the 1st of each month. A 3-day grace period is provided. Payment not received by the 4th will incur a $25 late fee. Continued access to classes may be paused until the account is brought up to date. 

 Yes, I am an approved service provider for the Choose Act. Participating families can use Choose Act funds to purchase services at Holmes Tutoring. Parents must be familiar with how Class Wallet works and submit appropriate information. No refunds will be given if invoices aren't submitted appropriately.
